Communication Technology: The Magic of Touch

Touch screen technology is changing the way people communicate with each other and machines. Touch screen technologies are used in retail, service, fast food and restaurant businesses, industrial control, and automation as well as to communicate with mobile phones, media players, and other kinds of electronic devices. They can substantially reduce the effort and skill necessary to enter information and control other devices and systems, can result in increased efficiencies and reduced errors in the performance of an individual's job, and can reduce costs. The several different kinds of touch screen technologies used in business, consumer, medical, and industrial applications include resistive, capacitive, infrared, surface acoustic wave, near-field imaging, and dispersive signal touch technologies, each of which offers unique advantages in terms of accuracy, reliability under varying environmental conditions, and price.
